Classes Page
I am particularly proud of the class
work conducted
at Caltech. The classes have been challenging but rewarding.
A note about the courses:
- During the first year we are
required to take a full load of classes. The
classes are meant to provide a solid training in the main areas of
applied
mathematics. The courses include the yearlong sequence in methods of
applied
mathematics (ACM 101), the yearlong sequence in numerical analysis (ACM
110, 111, 112) and the sequence in other important topics of applied
mathematics
(ACM 104, 105, 116). In addition to these course I also took a yearlong
course in Fluid Mechanics (AE 101abc).
- During the second year we are
required to take
the advanced numerical methods for PDEs course (ACM 210ab) and the
advanced
PDE course (ACM 201ab). I also took the first quarter of the
continuum
mechanics course (AE 160a)
- During the third year we are
no-longer required to
take courses. However, I decided to take the Advanced Fluid Mechanics
courses (AE 201abc) with Dr. Pullin. It is a very rewarding and fun
class. Dr. Pullin is an excellent teacher and the course touches all
the main areas of Fluid Mechanics left unexplored in the introductory
sequence AE101abc.
- During the fourth year I decided in consultation with
my adviser Dr. Meiron to take a course on dynamical systems (CDS140a).
The course
is extremely interesting as it connects dynamical systems with
applications to Lagrangian and Hamiltonian mechanics. During the winter
and spring terms I followed a course in Turbulence offered by Dr. Paul
Dimotakis (AE239ab)
- During the fifth year I did not take any classes.
Instead I am working full time on my research
