Dear CurveLab users,
The CurveLab toolbox has been upgraded to version 2.1. We have included a
version of the curvelet transform that handles image boundaries by mirror
extension instead of periodization, at a computational complexity
comparable to the standard FDCT. The result is that boundary curvelets are
now reflected back into the image, instead of being wrapped around by
periodicity, in the spirit of wavelets on intervals. Switching to the new
variant may improve sparsity in cases where the image presents
strong contrast discontinuities across periodized edges.
A new paper explains the construction of ME curvelets. The Matlab files
for the new variant are in the directory mecv/. The toolbox can be
downloaded from
http://www.curvelet.org
A new version of the wave atom transform for mirror-extended images is
also available. Papers and software on wave atoms are available at the new
webpage
http://www.waveatom.org
Enjoy, and please report bugs/feedback by email!
Laurent Demanet and Lexing Ying.
